บทความนี้ผมก็มีตัวอย่าง 13 ประโยคภาษาอังกฤษที่มักจะใช้ผิดกันบ่อยๆ พร้อมประโยคที่ถูกต้องลแะคำอธิบาย ให้เพื่อนๆเอาไปศึกษาแล้วใช้กันให้ถูกต้องด้วยนะครับ
1. “Everybody are happy.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “Everybody is happy.”
“everybody, somebody, anybody, nobody” นั้นจริงๆแล้วเป็นคำเอกพจน์ ไม่ใช่พหูพจน์
2. “I have the possibility to study in Canada next year.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “I have the opportunity to study in Canada next year.”
“Have” จะใช้กับ “opportunity” ถ้าหากอยากใช้ “possibility” จะใช้คู่กับ “there is” ซึ่งจะได้ว่า “There’s a possibility I may study in Canada next year.”
3. “I think she doesn’t like tomatoes.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “I don’t think she likes tomatoes.”
ในข้อนี้ถึงแม้ว่าจะไม่ผิดแกรมม่าร์ก็ตาม แต่โดยทั่วไปเรามักจะพูดว่า “I don’t think she likes tomatoes.” มากกว่า
4. “If I will see John later, I’ll give him the message.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “If I see John later, I’ll give him the message.”
ถึงแม้ว่าประโยคก่อนและหลังคอมม่าจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคตทั้งคู่ แต่ตามเงื่อนไขของ if clause แล้วที่ถูกต้องคือ “If I see John later, I’ll give him the message.”
5. “Do you want that I make breakfast?”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “Do you want me to make breakfast?”
ตามหลัง “want” จะไม่ใช้ “that”
6. “I’m thinking to buy a new car.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “I’m thinking of buying a new car” หรือ “I’m thinking about buying a new car.”
ตามหลัง “think” จะไม่ใช้ “to + infinitive”
7. “They enjoyed the baseball game despite of the rain.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “They enjoyed the baseball game despite the rain” หรือ “They enjoyed the baseball game in spite of the rain.”
ตามหลัง “despite” จะไม่ใช้คำว่า “of”
8. “My ten-years-old daughter loves to dance.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “My ten-year-old daughter loves to dance.”
“year” ในที่นี้ทำหน้าที่เป็น adj. เพราะฉะนั้นจะไม่เติม s
9. “Our house is near to the beach.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “Our house is near the beach” หรือ “Our house is close to the beach.”
ตามหลัง “near” จะไม่ใช้คำว่า “to”
10. “I like very much soccer.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “I like soccer very much.” หรือ “I like soccer a lot” หรือ “I really like soccer.”
จะไม่ใช้ “very much” ระหว่าง verb และ object
11. “She asked me where do I work.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “She asked me where I work.”
ประโยคแบบนี้เราเรียกว่า reported questions ซึ่งเราจะไม่ใช้ “do/does/did” ในประโยคแบบนี้
12. “They left without say goodbye.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “They left without saying goodbye.”
หากจะใช้ verb ตามหลัง conjunctions และ prepositions จะต้องเป็นรูป -ing
13. “I need to finish this project until Friday.”
– ที่ถูกต้องคือ “I need to finish this project by Friday.”
“Until” จะใช้กับประโยคที่ดำเนินไปอย่างต่อเนื่องและสิ้นสุดในเวลาหนึ่ง แต่ “finish” เป็น verb ที่เกิดขึ้นแค่ครั้งเดียว จึงควรใช้คำว่า “by”
