Euphemism คือถ้อยคำสุภาพ หรือภาษาสุภาพ ใช้เพื่อให้ประโยคมีใจความที่เหมาะสม นุ่มนวลขึ้น ไม่ให้เกิดความหยาบคาย และห้วนจนเกินไป
หลายๆ คนอาจจะรู้อยู่แล้วว่า “ประจำเดือน” ในภาษาอังกฤษนั้นเรียกได้หลายอย่างไม่ว่าจะเป็น menstruation, menses หรือ period แต่รู้หรือไม่ว่ายังมีคำสุภาพอื่นๆ ที่ใช้เรียก และสื่อความถึงประจำเดือนเป็นภาษาอังกฤษอีกมากมาย
