สำหรับใครที่กลัวเรื่องหลักไวยากรณ์ในภาษาอังกฤษหรือ Grammar อยากลองให้เปิดใจกับมันดูสักครั้ง แล้วคุณอาจสนุกไปกับมันโดยไม่รู้ตัว!! วันนี้เรามีหลักการใช้แกรมม่าร์ง่ายๆ มาให้เรียนรู้กัน กับหลักการใช้คำอย่าง Already, Still, Always และ Yet ที่ใช้ให้ถูกหลักเพียงนิดเดียวก็ทำให้ความหมายของประโยคเปลี่ยนทันที

#ALREADY
Already ถูกใช้เพื่อบอกว่ามีบางอย่างเกิดขึ้นเร็วกว่าที่คาดคิดไว้ หรือเมื่อบางอย่างเกิดขึ้นเร็วกว่าเวลาจริงที่ควรเกิดขึ้น เช่น
– “Hurry up Susan. Breakfast is ready!”
“I’ve already had breakfast thanks. I woke up early.”
#STILL
Still ใช้เพื่ออ้างถึงสถานการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ตัวอย่างดังนี้
– “They’ve been married for 40 years and they still love each other.”
– “I moved to this town five years ago and I’m still living here.”
– “Are you still smoking? I thought you had stopped!”
#ALWAYS
Always มักจะถูกใช้เพื่ออ้างถึงสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นประจำ, บ่อยมากๆ หรือตลอดไป เช่น
– “I always send cards at Christmas.”
– “Sue always takes the 8 o’clock train to work.”
– “Alex is always complaining about his job.”
– “I will always love you.”
#YET
Yet ถูกใช้เพื่อถามคำถามเมื่อมีบางสิ่งคาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้นแล้ว ตัวอย่างดังนี้
– “Has the postman arrived yet?”
– “Have you finished the book yet?“
อีกทั้งยังจะถูกใช้ในประโยคเชิงลบในสถานการณ์ที่บางอย่าง บางเหตุการณ์ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นตามเวลาที่กำหนด เช่น
– “The book I ordered hasn’t arrived yet.”
– “We have yet to find out the cause of the delay.” (=We still haven’t found out the cause.)
Yet ยังถูกใช้เพื่อเชื่อมโยงวลีสองสลี หรือไอเดียที่ขัดแย้งกันแต่เป็นเรื่องราวเดียวกันเข้าด้วยกัน (ในลักษณะเดียวกันกับการใช้ ‘nevertheless’ หรือ ‘nonetheless’) ตัวอย่างดังนี้
– “She was offered an interesting job with good pay. Yet she refused it.”
– “He felt alone in the world, yet he was surrounded by friends.”
– “He was a strict yet fair teacher.”
